Medicare Advantage Plans

Part C – All-in-one coverage
  • Many plans have a $0 monthly premium; in some areas, premiums may range roughly from about $0–$170 or more per month, depending on the plan and service area (educational example only, not a quote).
  • Includes hospital, medical, and often prescription drug coverage.
  • Network-based (HMO/PPO); costs depend on using in-network providers.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

Helps cover Original Medicare gaps
  • Works with Parts A & B – not a stand-alone plan.
  • Can help pay deductibles, copays, and coinsurance.
  • Generally lets you see any provider who accepts Medicare.
  • Does not include prescription drug coverage. You usually add a separate Part D drug plan for medications.

Medicare Part D

Prescription drug coverage
  • Helps cover outpatient prescription medications.
  • Offered by private plans approved by Medicare.
  • Formularies, tiers, and pharmacies affect what you pay.

Original Medicare

Parts A & B – Traditional coverage
  • Use any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare.
  • Includes hospital (Part A) and medical (Part B) coverage.
  • Does not include most outpatient prescription drugs – Part D is separate.

Compare All Options

Not sure where to begin?
  • Look at Original Medicare, Medigap, Advantage, and Part D together.
  • Good starting point if you’re still deciding on a direction.
